When it comes to Nigerians and listening to new music, you should know they can do anything for that especially when the new music is coming from the likes of Wizkid.Notwithstanding, Wizkid has been flourishing on tracks he has been featured by both local and international acts, ‘ Nowo’ , ‘ Fake Love’ , ‘ Drogba (Joanna)’, ‘ Bella’ , etc. Hence, the fans have been yearning in earnest for a Wizkid masterpiece.
The ‘ Ojuelegba’ crooner is a master at postponement, as he has pushed back the release of any new music for uncountable times. After the highly raved ‘ Soco ’ jam fans were in for another banger from the Starboy, hopefully ‘ Gucci Snake ’ with Slimcase but it seems the song is not coming anytime. Let’s not mention the ‘Made In Lagos’ LP.
Leading to the release of his latest singles ‘ Fever’ and ‘ Master Groove ’, Wiz has been embroiled in back to back drama from his first and second baby mama.
And then came the Loose Talk Podcast and everything that was said therein. There was a need to move on from all the negativity, Wizkid kept his promise and gave us ‘ Fever’ and ‘ Master Groove ’.
Was Any Of These Songs Worth The Wait By Fans? That will be a big NO!! Wizkid fell short of his standards with his recent tracks. Going by the nomenclature of his tracks one would anticipate that ‘ Fever ’ and ‘Master Groove’ would be the mother of all jams especially as we march towards the end of the year.
Starting with ‘ Fever’ the tune is supposed to be a laid back tune that probably drives some cold shivers down the spine. First off the lyrics are very mediocre & cheeky with instances of mumbling. Wizkid failed to bring any iota of justice to Blaq Jerzee’s beats. It seems he wasn’t in his best elements while recording.
‘ Master Groove ’? More like premature groove. One outstanding thing about this tune is the beats, the sound is very potent. But it seems the Starboy wants to bring his old self from ‘ Jaiye Jaiye’ and it didn’t go through flawlessly.
This is supposed to be a badass Afrobeat tune, however, Wizkid really did not quite hit the spot. The little chants of ‘arrgh, yea yea’ and voice-over doesn’t show enough finesse from Wizkid . Phantom and the sax guy really did a thing on the song, sadly the Starboy didn’t bring his A game for what is his official single.
Despite the songs being released on the same day, it is hardly trending even after a week. Fever or Master Groove, it’s Master Groove over Fever. Something about these two songs show Wizzy didn’t give in his 100 percent.
